Information
Transformers are rated in volt-amps (VA). It defines the limit of the magnetising field inside the transformer. If this limit is exceeded, the transformer enters saturation and no longer functions properly. This is especially important when the transformer has multiple secondary windings.
To determine the required transformer VA, multiply the secondary voltage by the required amperes:
For example, VA=Volts x Amperes or 24V x 1.04 amperes = 24.96 VA.
To determine the maximum transformer current, divide the transformer VA by the transformer secondary voltage.
1. Example, A=VA /Â Volts or 25 VA / 24 Volts = 1.04Â A – Install 1A MCB type C on Secondary and 1A MCB type C Primary side.
2. Example, A=VA /Â Volts or 50 VA / 24 Volts = 2.08 A – Install 2A MCB type C on Secondary and 1A MCB type C Primary side.
3. Example, A=VA /Â Volts or 100 VA / 24 Volts = 4.16 A – Install 4A MCB type C on Secondary and 3A MCB type C Primary side.
4. Example, A=VA /Â Volts or 150 VA / 24 Volts = 6.25 A – Install 6A MCB type C on Secondary and 6A MCB type C Primary side.
5. Example, A=VA /Â Volts or 250 VA / 24 Volts = 10.41 A – Install 10A MCB type C on Secondary and 6A MCB type C Primary side.
